ARE YOU WALKING WITH JESUS?

ARE YOU WALKING WITH JESUS?

A sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu on 09/02/2020

Introduction

There was a little track road in one village, and this road was always lonely and deadly. Any one who passed through it hardly returned safely. Some people who went out for economic or business activities without returning home were assumed to have been slaughtered along the area, which was really the case.
Countless people had been slaughtered in that zone, and villagers were alarming for the dangers which had beset the area but were unable to rescue themselves, and government never had ears to listen to their plights.

One day, it was confirmed that people were maimed, robbed, and raped, and this information really devastated all the villagers with a great tumor, causing a sense of hopelessness, and despair in them.

“Who will rescue us?” They groaned.

A little girl of 14 years old, dressed up, and was ready to go to school. She must pass through the track road, and if she would avert the dangers in that area, she would forfeit going to school. But would she forfeit the school, and save her life? Would she risk her life to go to school since she had exams that day to write? All these buffering and bothering issues weighed her down. She managed to come to sit in the veranda with tears streaming down her cheeks. Though she sat at the veranda, her soul had wandered to school. Later, her mum came out and saw her covering her face, sobbing with tears.

"Dear, what is the matter with you? Wouldn’t you go to school again?" The mum asked with hands akimbo.

“Mum, I cannot walk alone! My soul is troubled by the fear of unknown evil men on the road”. The little girl responded.

“My daughter, any time you want to go out, always ask God to walk with you. Though I’m your mother who brought you out to this evil generation, I’m helpless. The only One who can rescue you is Christ. When you feel lonely, invite him to be with you, and when the journey of life is terrible, fearsome, and deadly, ask him to walk with you”, the mum advised.

The woman prayed with her child for God to lead her to school, keep her protected from the evil men. Thereafter, she trekked along with her child through the deadly track road. They did not see any single soul whether good or bad. As they walked, the voices of birds they used to hear were heard no more. This could be that nature was silently mourning the villagers who were catastrophically slaughtered. The woman's heart was highly beating with a series of prayers for protection likewise her daughter’s.

They walked through that valley of deaths, but did not know when they were out of the road, until they found themselves in the school. Before the mother would go, she told her child to always call on Jesus.

After the closure of the school for the day, her colleagues had gone already, and it was only her, and she must pass through that track road to return home. Fear gripped her. She began to wail, but the only solace she had got was when she remembered her mum’s advise – to always ask Jesus to walk with her. She stood at the entrance of the road, her mind wandered in the realm of solitude, until she began to reflect on the past events, about the massive slaughter that happened in that road. She broke in tears, then began to invite Jesus Christ, the hope of all nations, to come and walk with her. She sang a song –

Come walk with me,
The road is straight and narrow;
Come walk with me,
I cannot walk alone;
For the road is rough,
And there are many – many dangers;
Come and walk with me,
I cannot walk alone!

The little girl sang, as she walked through the valley of deaths. At the middle of the road, three hefty men, fearful at their countenance, (their outlooks were enough to make a soul fly off its body) had murdered some pupils who were returning home from school. These men had really done a covenant with demons, and so they were determined to allow demons destroy them though they had been blinded from knowing the key to life, Jesus Christ.

Those pupils were beheaded. Their bodies were littered all over the area – the untiled road was tiled with human bodies. The little girl walked towards the scene, the valley of dead bodies, and where the evil men were sitting smoking some hard drugs. They heard a rattling noise, and then looked up. They watched the child singing, though the little child's eyes had not yet beholden them. Her spirit had already connected to the supernatural realm. Those demonic men saw a mighty man of valour, a giant who was mightier than they walking along with the little child. The presence of the mighty man walking with the child got them paralysed. Confessions began to flow out through their wobbling mouths. The only thing the child was able to grasp and decipher from their speeches was-

“We’ll not lay our swords on you for we have seen your guarding angel!”

The child returned home safely, and she lived to tell the villagers what it meant to walk with God in every situation. And today that road people would walk in with no returning, people could walk through it and come back safely.

The story illustrates that anyone who walks with God will never be disappointed. And it’s good for parents to train up their children in the way of the Lord so that they'll not depart from it as they grow. This is evident in the story when the woman advised her little folk to always call on God for survival. Our survival is in the hands of God. If my fellow Etches, Nigeria, US, UK, China, and other people all over the world will look up to Christ, walk along with him, there will be no fear in our ways.

We see today, stories of robbery, kidnapping, and killing of innocent souls with guns are becoming the order of the day which has seriously eaten deeply into the fabric of our youths.
Cleopas and his fellow walked with Christ to a point it became very late, they invited Christ to abide with them. The fellows were intensely afraid, for the fear that Jesus whom they thought was their Messiah had been crucified. Though Christ chided them for easily forgetting what Moses and the prophets had written about the son of God. Please let us not forget what we have been taught about the last days. The only remedy is to walk with God just like Enoch, Noah, and Hezekiah did and God didn’t disappoint them.

REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE

Remember Who You Are, a sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu Introduction A little girl grew under the care of her guardian, Janet, due to she had lost her father, an Anglican priest and her mum could not provide for the family. Before the death of her father, her father called Janet, her guardian, and handed her over to her to take care of her. As this little child was growing, she became very much acquainted with new modern technologies in her guardian’s house, and tended to live a luxurious life, using make ups, fixing her eye lashes, and fingernails. One day, as she dressed up for a night club, and it happened it was her first time to go for the club, Mrs. Janet sat her down and said, “Remember who you are. You were born to a Christian family, and bred in a Christian family too. Why do you tend to live a worthless life, a life that would never transform your spiritual life? How soon have you forgotten that you are a pastor’s child? You now wear trousers, artificial hair, fixing your ...

JESUS IS KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR

Jesus  is Knocking  A sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu on Sun. 9th June, 2019. Introduction : There are different varieties of doors. We have interior doors, exterior doors, glass doors, and wooden doors. But in all, the door that Jesus Christ is Knocking on is your very HEART. Heart is a domain of forces, supposedly a dwelling home of God. Jesus is eager and meek to come into your heart and dwell in there to feed you with good thoughts nourishing your soul to keep it secure from danger and sin, and to give it life in abundance but Satan is aggressively fighting to steal it. Jesus Christ says: ‘The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly', John 10:10 NHEB. There are people whose souls have been stolen by Satan with the wealth of this world, and they tend to believe that they have gotten all they want in life. Such people are not only unbelievers but also some church members. Their belief in self-satisfac...

Where is the God of Elijah?

sermon 3.   Where is the God of Elijah? A sermon preached on Friday, 21/12/2018 “Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River. He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” Then the river divided, and Elisha went across”─ 2 Kings 2:13. As you have been here tonight, singing and praising God, the prayers we had made so far have been answered by God. Your needs tonight will be provided for you. Say amen! Our message comes inform of a question, which calls for the expectation of absolute answers. Literary critics may term it a rhetorical question─ a question that doesn’t demand for any answer.   But, for the reason that you are here tonight for Jesus the message will yield positive answers for us. You may have heard many things God did through Elijah, sparing him from the wrath of Queen Jezebel who vowed to kill him by all mean...
