LET NOT GOD'S GLORY DEPART FROM YOU

₦Sermon 27
LET NOT GOD’S GLORY DEPART FROM YOU

Lift up your heads, gates! Be lifted up, ancient doors,
so the King of Glory may come in”—Psalm 24:7 ISV

Texts: 1 Samuel 4:17-21

Sin is a reproach to any nation. It enslaves us and brings death to humanity. Man is created in likeness and glory of God and when the glory is gone out from us, the likeness of God in us is also gone, leaving us worthless. Eli’s sons – Hophni and Phineas had no regard of the Lord and they did abominable things in the Temple of God. They regarded not the officiating service of God and some women who came to offer sacrifices to the Lord were raped and this made God to be angry with the Israelites.

The Israelites fought against philistines but were defeated. They left and came back to fight Philistines in the next time and the Ark of God was carried out by Hophni and Phineas; and the Lord caused massive slaughter on the side of Israelites which also claimed the lives of Eli’s two sons.

Upon hearing the news from the messenger, Eli’s neck broke down and he died. The wife of Phinehas (alternative spelling of Phineas) gave birth to a baby instantly which she named “Ichabod” meaning “the glory of God has departed from Israel. Look when you have children like Hophni and Phinehas and you do nothing to bring them in the way of God, certainly, God’s glory will depart from your family.

When God’s glory is departed from us, it causes death to the family: Eli’s sons— phinehas, Hophni and phinehas’ wife together with other Israelites died as a result of their sins. Sin causes God’s presence and his Holy Spirit to leave us. It brings woe to our children forcing them to be orphans. The child, Ichabod had no parents to live with. Proverbs 17:6 says; children are the crown of old men and the glory of children are their fathers. Here Eli did not live to see his grand-child, Ichabod, neither did Ichabod live to see his grand-father – where is the glory?

Our enemies can easily get us when God’s glory departs from us (1 Samuel 4:17). The messenger answered and said Israel fled before the philistines and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people and thy two sons also Hophni and Phinehas are dead and the Ark of God is taken. In the history, Israel had never been to war and be defeated when they did not sin. Consider yourself today if people you were better than yesterday are better than you today, whether your enemy has never won you over and has started winning you today – pray that you will always be a winner.

GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU

₦Sermon 18 GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU “Then God remembered Rachel, He listened to her and opened her womb” ——— Gen. 30:22.   Texts: Isaiah 49:15-16, Gen. 8:1-3, Gen. 30:22, Human beings feel that they are being forgotten especially when they are facing trials and tribulations. One thing with our God is that he does not forget his people. He knows the appropriate time to settle our problems; the problem of barrenness, hardship and poverty. To tell us how important we are to him, God says: “See, I have written your name on the Palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). This graphically means that every man’s problem is in the hands of God and which he will never forget to solve the problem of his children. Thus, the true picture of what the Christians are passing through here on earth is always in the mind of God. According to the scripture (Isaiah 49:16) for God to write our name on the palms of his hands means that whatever he has planned  for us shall never be forgotten. We c...

WEEP NO MORE

₦Sermon 54 YOU SHALL WEEP NO MORE “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be more pain for the former things are passed away” —Rev. 21:4 KJV                                                                                                                            Texts: Rev. 21:1-5 Weeping entails the groaning of the inner being which may burst out to crying and shedding of painful and sorrowful tears. This comes to play when someone is emotionally distressed and frustrated because of the terrors, harrows and colossal tragedies that would beset a man. Basically, people at times...

ARE YOU WEIGHED IN THE BALANCES AND FOUND WANTING?

₦sermon 7 (A Sermon Preached by Rev. Fortune Emerence Chinemerem Nwaiwu) “Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting” —Daniel 5:27 Bible texts: Judges 19:1-30. God is the Eye that searches man’s hearts and measures them up with their actions to know if they are in the right and accurate balances or found wanting.  When one is not meeting up the desirable requirement of God, such a fellow is found wanting. Belshazzar, the last of the Kings of Babylon, the son of Nabonidus by Nitocris who was the daughter of Nebuchadnezzar and the widow of Nergal-sharezer shows the utmost contempt to the sacred things of God which were taken from God’s temple when Nebuchadnezzar invaded Judah.  He organizes a great feast for a thousand of his lords.  Definitely when he testes the wine and realizes that it tastes good, he gives order that the items — the gold and silver cups that his predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem be brought to hi...
