GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU
“Then God remembered Rachel, He listened to her and opened her womb”
——— Gen. 30:22.
Texts: Isaiah 49:15-16, Gen. 8:1-3, Gen. 30:22,
Human beings feel that they are being forgotten especially when they are facing trials and tribulations. One thing with our God is that he does not forget his people. He knows the appropriate time to settle our problems; the problem of barrenness, hardship and poverty. To tell us how important we are to him, God says: “See, I have written your name on the Palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). This graphically means that every man’s problem is in the hands of God and which he will never forget to solve the problem of his children. Thus, the true picture of what the Christians are passing through here on earth is always in the mind of God. According to the scripture (Isaiah 49:16) for God to write our name on the palms of his hands means that whatever he has planned for us shall never be forgotten. We can make promises to people without having any written document that will keep our mind in remembrance. These will be forgotten so easily. At times even when we put such promises down on a piece of paper, we do forget. But here, God says he has written them down on his palms to be a reminder to him.
Today, we will look at some of biblical persons that God remembered. This will heighten and reinforce our faith in God that we will be remembered one day.
God Remembered Rachel: (Gen. 30:22)
_Rachel, the daughter to Laban, the younger sister to Leah her co-bed sharer with Jacob was very bitter when it seemed that the joy of marriage had been deprived her. Her sister Leah who was given to Jacob as a wife as the tradition demanded was consecutively having children. Leah felt that as she was not loved by the husband, God in one part had remembered her by giving her sons. Though Jacob would have considered this to show more love to her, but this did not work for her. As Rachel saw the situation, she was finally convinced that she was barren and then gave her maid to Jacob for her to have children through her. But a time came that God remembered Rachel’s prayers to cause her womb to open. Because God enabled Rachel’s womb to open, he will also enable all our doors of destiny to open in the name of Jesus.
There are certain people whose destinies are being locked or blocked by occultic priests and devil. As we give our lives to Christ, He will cause light to shine in our lives by enabling our door of blessings to open for us. The message is that when God remembers us, all our impossibilities become possible. It does not matter how you suffer in life, but what matters most is your trust in the Lord. The trust is the key for remembrance and people that exercise their faith and trust in God are the people whose names are written on the palms of God’s hands (Isaiah 49:16).
Rachel’s pregnancy at her later days reveals that God does not forget anybody who is in need of fruit of womb. This means for any woman facing the challenges of barrenness, with firm trust in God, He will remember her as HE remembered Rachel.
God Remembered Noah (Gen. 8:1)
Amidst compounding sorrows and difficult situation, God does not allow his people to perish. When the whole earth was covered with flood waters that lasted one hundred and fifty days, Noah was not forgotten; God remembered him and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat (Gen. 8:1). There was God’s purpose to ask Noah to make a boat and such a purpose was to save Noah and his family and livestock from destructions. Today, God is still calling on us to leave whatever thing that we cling on to, to worship him so that we may live. As you follow Christ in His ways, you will be remembered. Noah was remembered for his righteousness and you will be remembered for your faith in Christ because without faith it is impossible to please him for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him, (see, Hebrews 11:6).
God Remembered Cornelius and his gifts to the poor (Acts 10:31)
We are in the world of charitable services, we ought to persistently render help to whom it is due — the poor. Helping one another is the only way we show our love with one another. With your help to the people in need, God will also remember you for your good deeds. Cornelius who was a gentile, a residence at Caesrea, was remembered by God because he always looked after the poor and prays day and night. He was a devout follower of the Jews who feared God. For this singular act, God sent his angel to announce to him that his prayers had been heard and God has remembered his gifts to the poor” (Acts 10:31). What actually have we given to the poor around us? What actually have we done reasonably to people who are around us? How serious are you in prayers? Do you really make time to commune with God? When you keep knocking at the door of God, he will remember you one day as he remembered Cornelius. The fact that is being spoken of Cornelius is that he remembered the poor and God reciprocally remembered him and he became clean through the Holy Spirit. He was remembered and rewarded by God. The book of Proverbs says: “He who has pity on the poor gives to the Lord and the Lord will give him his reward. (19:17).
Our problem is that we don’t remember the poor in our society, but we expect God to remember us. When we expect God to remember us and he doesn’t, at times our love in him grows cold; we begin to mislay our trust in him. All these are the cause of devil, you are not abandoned. Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, God would not forget you (Isaiah 49:15). Brethren, it is now the time to trust God so that His promises unto us will be fulfilled. Some of us may have been abandoned by parents, brothers or friends just like how Joseph was forgotten in the prison by the Pharaoh’s cupbearer but God will never abandon his people.

God as you remembered Sarah and Cornelius, may you also remember me and cause joy to burst out from my weeping mouth through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen!
