REMEMBER, YOU ARE THE SALT AND LIGHT OF THIS WORLD

₦Sermon 31

REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE THE SALT AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD

“Salt is good. But if salt loses its taste, how can you restore its flavor?”——Mark 9:50 ISV.

                        Reading Text: Matt: 5:13 – 16

If Christians are not reminded of whom they are, they may be lost here on earth. Today, I want to remind you about whom you are and what you ought to do that seem to be lacking in you. The sermon on Mount which our Lord Jesus Christ preached made us to know whom we really are particularly for those pursuing the kingdom of God. He tells us that we are the salt of the world.

Salt is a substance that has good taste. We use it for cooking and in eating and in drinking. This taste of the world is in the hands of the Christians. We are expected to show our good taste to the people, do good things to our neighbours and live peacefully with them. We are not meant to be greedy and shouldn’t marinate our lives in immoral acts. We should not be found quarrelling and fighting with any man. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone – Col 4:6.

But what good is the salt if it loses its flavor? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. What good is a man that calls himself a Christian but has a questionable character? What good is the deaconess who brings conflict in the house of God? What good is the woman who does not do what Christ wants us to do? Such a man and woman will be thrown out of the kingdom of God because he/she does the things of the devil and not of God.

We have lost our value to the world because we do things which our Lord Jesus Christ is against. Most of the problems in the world are caused by the ones who called themselves Christians. Items of God are stolen from the sanctuary by the Christians; things are stolen in the society by the so called Christians; Deacons and Deaconess are now encouraging their daughters to abort babies; Choir masters, Deacons and Pastors are found in rape cases. I want to tell you that the salt in them are lost because when people hear that they rape women and commit adultery, no amount of their sermons can save a soul. The hearers of their message will never believe in them. This means they’ve absolutely lost their salt. Those who hear the instruction of God and do not obey it are just like lot’s wife who became a pillar of salt as she looked back – Gen. 19:26. When you look back from the race you are running you are no longer the salt of the world.  Lot’s wife was worthless and therefore she was made a pillar of salt which can never be useful to any man.

Moreover, Christians are called to be a light and shine in the world of darkness because light conquers darkness. It exposes both evils and good work of people. Anyone who is in darkness hates the light. That is why Christians are hated everywhere because they always expose evils. They say the truth and do not bargain with the wicked to do wrong. Instead, they abhor the evil plans of people that love darkness.

The light means we are the witnesses of Christ whom John calls the light. It demands us to take the message of the cross to those who are perishing in the world of darkness. Would you try to save souls today as you hear this message? Let your good deeds be seen by people so that they may fellow you praise the Living God. So, be a light to the world!

May God smile on you this week as you take this message of the cross to the people in darkness. God bless you!

—————Meditation Point———————
O God, take away any bitterness in me and let me be salted again with your Holy Spirit!

EVIL DISEASE

sermon 2. EVIL DISEASE A sermon preached by Fortune Nwaiwu on 23/12/2018 “A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honor, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it, this is vanity, and it is an evil disease,’─ Ecclesiastes 6:2 KJV. Brethren, as we are all here this hour, I want you to know that the diseases people suffer from are not only HIV/AIDS, diabetes, typhoid and malaria or any other infections either curable or incurable. Our today’s homily will point out some areas that will enable us know the kind of diseases that have infected many people which most of medical doctors have not discovered but they fail to research in the scriptures as the anchor of their professions. King Solomon, the preacher discovers the most grievous affliction of human beings, a man blessed with riches, wealth and honor which have made him to lack nothing did not utilize his blessings in the fe...

GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU

₦Sermon 18 GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU “Then God remembered Rachel, He listened to her and opened her womb” ——— Gen. 30:22.   Texts: Isaiah 49:15-16, Gen. 8:1-3, Gen. 30:22, Human beings feel that they are being forgotten especially when they are facing trials and tribulations. One thing with our God is that he does not forget his people. He knows the appropriate time to settle our problems; the problem of barrenness, hardship and poverty. To tell us how important we are to him, God says: “See, I have written your name on the Palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). This graphically means that every man’s problem is in the hands of God and which he will never forget to solve the problem of his children. Thus, the true picture of what the Christians are passing through here on earth is always in the mind of God. According to the scripture (Isaiah 49:16) for God to write our name on the palms of his hands means that whatever he has planned  for us shall never be forgotten. We c...

Where is the God of Elijah?

sermon 3.   Where is the God of Elijah? A sermon preached on Friday, 21/12/2018 “Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. Then Elisha returned to the bank of the Jordan River. He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” Then the river divided, and Elisha went across”─ 2 Kings 2:13. As you have been here tonight, singing and praising God, the prayers we had made so far have been answered by God. Your needs tonight will be provided for you. Say amen! Our message comes inform of a question, which calls for the expectation of absolute answers. Literary critics may term it a rhetorical question─ a question that doesn’t demand for any answer.   But, for the reason that you are here tonight for Jesus the message will yield positive answers for us. You may have heard many things God did through Elijah, sparing him from the wrath of Queen Jezebel who vowed to kill him by all mean...
