THE SEVEN THINGS GOD HATES

₦sermon 3
(A Sermon Preached by Rev. Fortune Emerence Chinemerem Nwaiwu)

“Everyone who practices wickedness hates the light and does not come to the light, so that his actions may not be exposed” —John 3:20
Text: Proverbs 6:16-19

There are seven wickedness and evil which God hates as conceived by King Solomon. These seven wickedness and evil are the worst forms of evil and if we can avoid them, God will be so delighted in us.

The first wickedness mentioned is arrogant eyes. It is not the arrogant eyes itself but the ones that put it to action are the ones God hates. He hates those that have haughty eyes who are so proud of themselves. They feel so pompous over other people. They disregard the poor in their midst and do not have them as their friends because the poor have not got to their level. They always display their colour of riches and are willing to dominate the whole world. Such people are accounted for violence in the society. They are not humble. They don’t obey instructions.

A lying tongue is another wickedness that God hates with great passion. A tongue that spreads false rumours and accuses the innocent for committing nothing is an enemy to the great Numen. The people that have lying tongues are the ones God hates. Ananias and his wife Sapphira are guilty of this wickedness because they lied to the Holy Spirit and kept back part of the price they sold their land. Anyone with a lying tongue is filled with satanic instincts. Peter asks Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back for yourself part of the proceeds from the sale of the land?-Acts 5:3. Ananias and his wife Sapphira die for telling lies. I do not know if you have the same lying tongue. God has warned us through his prophet Moses that: “You must not pass along false rumours. You must not co-operate with evil people by lying on the witness stand”—Exodus 23:1. Some of us are guilty of this. Some people have become false witness in law courts in favour of their friends, while some people are being bribed to bear false witness against their opponent. Even some of our lawyers are guilty of this. No truth is found in their lips and they don’t administer justice again. It is better you repent today if not what happened to Ananias and his wife will come upon you.

Thirdly, the hands that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17), those that kill innocent souls and take their inheritance are guilty of this atrocity. Those that poison their neighbours because of a piece of land are like King Ahab and his wife Jezebel who murdered Naboth for his inherited piece of land from his ancestors. Even, Cain is also guilty because he murdered his brother Abel. I don’t know the people you murdered with your gun, machete, and poisons or with your wicked mouth. You need to repent or what happened to Ahab and his household will come upon you.

Fourthly, a heart that devises wicked plans is hated by God. There are people whose hearts are evil. They don’t think of something good and beneficial to friends, they always devise evils. Job’s wife is guilty of this for she said to her husband curse God and die (Job 2:9). Even Jonadab is guilty of this, too, for he advised Amnon the half-brother to Absalom to feign sick so that his father David would permit Tamer to cook for him. His idea was intentionally made so that Amnon would accomplish his lust over his sister Tamer (2Smanuel 13:5-22).

Fifthly, feet that race to do wrong. A woman, who moves ahead of her husband as to do evil, has feet for doing evil. Just like Jezebel who took the bull by the horn to write a letter for the death of Naboth. To Ahab, he was enduring it without any intention to do harm to Naboth but Jezebel his wife who has the feet to do wrong moved ahead of her husband to ensure that Naboth abdicate his land in death. That is why Naboth was murdered. Anyone that eliminates his colleague from any position has the feet to do wrong. Anyone that goes to a native doctor to block his neighbours’ progress has the feet to do wrong. If you are such a person, repent so that God would not send his army of angels to destroy you because what you are doing is what he abhors.

Sixthly, a false witness who pours out lies just like we said from the first among the seven things that God hates is a wicked fellow. Jezebel has people that falsified against Naboth that he blasphemed God and king-1King 21:13.

Finally, God detests a person who sows discord in a family. At times, you see a family that live in love and unity, but when one marries a wife, the wife will come to cause division in a family. If you are just a woman that does not like the co-operation of brothers in one family, I do not think if you will experience peace and unity in your life. We should turn away from doing what God abhors with great passion before he pours out his wrath upon us.

…………………….Meditation Point…………………………………
Lord, may you help me to do your will and abhor the things you hate and do good unto others. This l ask through Jesus Christ. Amen!

GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU

₦Sermon 18 GOD WILL REMEMBER YOU “Then God remembered Rachel, He listened to her and opened her womb” ——— Gen. 30:22.   Texts: Isaiah 49:15-16, Gen. 8:1-3, Gen. 30:22, Human beings feel that they are being forgotten especially when they are facing trials and tribulations. One thing with our God is that he does not forget his people. He knows the appropriate time to settle our problems; the problem of barrenness, hardship and poverty. To tell us how important we are to him, God says: “See, I have written your name on the Palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16). This graphically means that every man’s problem is in the hands of God and which he will never forget to solve the problem of his children. Thus, the true picture of what the Christians are passing through here on earth is always in the mind of God. According to the scripture (Isaiah 49:16) for God to write our name on the palms of his hands means that whatever he has planned  for us shall never be forgotten. We c...

WEEP NO MORE

₦Sermon 54 YOU SHALL WEEP NO MORE “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be more pain for the former things are passed away” —Rev. 21:4 KJV                                                                                                                            Texts: Rev. 21:1-5 Weeping entails the groaning of the inner being which may burst out to crying and shedding of painful and sorrowful tears. This comes to play when someone is emotionally distressed and frustrated because of the terrors, harrows and colossal tragedies that would beset a man. Basically, people at times...

ARE YOU WEIGHED IN THE BALANCES AND FOUND WANTING?

₦sermon 7 (A Sermon Preached by Rev. Fortune Emerence Chinemerem Nwaiwu) “Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting” —Daniel 5:27 Bible texts: Judges 19:1-30. God is the Eye that searches man’s hearts and measures them up with their actions to know if they are in the right and accurate balances or found wanting.  When one is not meeting up the desirable requirement of God, such a fellow is found wanting. Belshazzar, the last of the Kings of Babylon, the son of Nabonidus by Nitocris who was the daughter of Nebuchadnezzar and the widow of Nergal-sharezer shows the utmost contempt to the sacred things of God which were taken from God’s temple when Nebuchadnezzar invaded Judah.  He organizes a great feast for a thousand of his lords.  Definitely when he testes the wine and realizes that it tastes good, he gives order that the items — the gold and silver cups that his predecessor, Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple in Jerusalem be brought to hi...
